Being controlling is EXHAUSTING! So is worrying about the future and lamenting about the past.

No matter who we are, life is going to put us through the changes we need to go through. Are we willing to use these changes for our transformation?

How will I ever know what life is capable of doing if I am always in control?

Being completely open to opportunities and experiences has allowed me to relax and have much less stress in my life.

Not being in charge, i.e. controlling, allows life to unfold beautifully in ways that work FOR you and not against you.

THERE IS POWER IN GIVING UP CONTROL!

I am a recovering control freak. Which seems to go hand in hand with my recovering perfectionism.

Needing to know everything so that I could “fix” problems and control the outcome was a natural way of life for me. I say “was” very loosely because I am still in recovery. If there was a button for it, I would be about a year into my recovery.

Every day, the lessons learned from relaxing, letting go and giving up control have manifested in things working out better than I could have thought.

Keeping quiet, trusting the universe, setting my intention and living in a spirit of generosity continues to remove stress and anxiety from my life. Which ultimately leads to a happier, healthier, longer life.

Let me share a quick story. When I travel for work, I usually share a hotel room with another team member. The last couple of events, I got a room to myself since I was the only female on the team.

This allowed me to work on my video series and get up early to work out for my endurance challenge without dealing with sleep and bathroom schedules, etc.

I’m writing this on a flight to Detroit where I’m scheduled to room with a new member of the team. Not knowing what to expect, I chose not to worry about whether or not this would be a good roommate. Hey, snoring could be a problem, right?

I knew I needed some quiet time for phone calls and other obligations that a private room would be great for. But, I chose to see this as an opportunity to make new connections and not be attached to what the weekend would look like with a roommate.

Well, as I was sitting in the lounge before my flight, I get a text letting me know that I’ll have a room to myself. All this happened without effort, stress or worry. Just letting go of the outcome and trusting that things will work out as they should. And, it did.

I have many stories that I could share about letting go. If you struggle with control, perfectionism, stress and anxiety about things not working out as you think they should, I want to hear from you.

In the meantime, relax, let go and trust that everything will be alright in the end. It usually is.

“Life is to be lived, not controlled.”

Ready to take control of your life and win every day?
